About Us
In  the  year 1960  in Karnataka  State  the Mysore State Road Transport Association was formed to encourage the  spirit of  “ESPIRT-DE-CORPS” among  the  members so as  to develop a  sense  of  unity  among  the  transport operators, agents, owners and  with a view to  safeguard  and  defend  their  legitimate  rights  and  privileges,  promote  their  interests , improve and develop their business.

To organize all  transport  operators,  agents, owners,  whether  individuals,  partners or companies or similar Associations into one Central Corporate Body  for  the  whole  of  the State of  Karnataka, to watch, protect, safeguard,  guide, and   promote commercial business interest  in general and in  the welfare of  the members of  the Association in particular and  to effectively  represent  their  hardship and  grievances as  also to express their  opinion on any matter affecting their business interests to the local or municipal, Government-State or Central authorities or to any executive or legislative or any other public body.

To disseminate Knowledge or information through leaflets, periodicals or pamphlets about the modern scientific researches and improvements effected in transport business with a view to improve their standard or service and raise it at par with the western and other civilized countries.

To promote a high standard of  vocational  and operational conduct among its members.

To remove  and  eliminate as  far as possible  the  various  trade and operational  difficulties experienced by  the operators  and  to  frame rules and  regulation  for  the guidance of  the members  in  their  business  transactions  and operations.

To provide opportunities for Social and Cultural activities among its members.

To enquire into, adjust and settle disputes among the members of Association.

To maintain uniformity in the methods and standard of business as regards to freight and other charges, rules of conduct of business, etc. ,as not to only prevent unhealthy competition among the members but also to bring uniformity in these matters, to the extent possible.

To affiliate, to subscribe to or become members and to co-operate with any other associations, object  are  either  wholly or  in  part  identical or similar  to  those of  this association , for  the purpose of indirectly advancing the objects of the Association.

To start  and  maintain  reading  rooms,  libraries,  periodicals and other useful activities  for  the  benefit of  the   members of  the association.

To organize publicity in the PRESS or otherwise promote the common interest of the members.

To arrange and call for periodical conferences and meetings of the members of the Association and other affiliated members for discussions of questions relating to matters affecting the interest of the association or  its  members and  to provide amenities like ware houses, truck terminals and  other  common  facilities for  the  benefit of  the  members and or  to associate  with  any Government bodies , corporate companies  floated for  the  purpose by the governments in the interest of the Road Transport Industry in this regard and to extend all co-operations physically, financially and fully to achieve the results.

To do all such other lawful things as are incidental or conducive to the attachment of the objects and to raise interest free loan from Members.

In  the  year 1961-62,  Mysore  State  Road  Transport  Association  was  formed  with  Mr. V. Ayodhyaraman  the First President and Mr.B.S. Varadaraja Shetty was the first Secretary and 20 members formed the Association.

In  the year 1966-67, under the President ship  of Mr. C. M. Reddy and  Hon. Secretary Sri P.R. Pattabhiraman, The Association was recognized by the Government.

In the year 1981-82, Mr. A.A. Badami became the President and Mr. N.K. Agarwal became the Hon. Secretary of the Association and the Association’s name was changed to M/s. Karnataka Goods Transporters Association (Registered).

KGTA has been rising from strength to strength and today it is one of the premier Organization with membership strength of more than 1000 members.

KGTA is now acknowledge as powerful arm of Transport Fraternity.
